I knew I had a couple of days to talk mom out of going back to the stupid vet.  She was keeping a pretty close eye on me but she had to run out to do some errand stuff so she decided to let me out in the backyard by myself while she got ready.  I’m not for sure what happened, but, I was moseying around in our backyard with my older sister Shy.  I was so suprised when a big pain shot through my  sore leg.  I just sat there holding up my leg and hoping mom would hurry up and notice.  20 minutes went by before mom looked outside.  When she did it was chaos.

I had never seen her move so fast!  She charged down the small slope to where I was sitting.  She was carrying a towel and yelling at my brother Titan and my sister Shy to stay back.  Did I ever tell you they were adopted?  Well they were but we don’t talk about it.  Anyway, mom was shaking like a leaf but she managed to get me back up the hill and through the house, right into the car!  We never go on adventures that way but this was pretty important.  I was hurting pretty bad, I felt a little like I was in shock.  I didn’t cry but I was pretty glassy eyed.  I was trying to go somewhere in my mind where the pain wouldn’t get me.

Mom was driving and talking on the cell phone with the vet.  I know you aren’t supposed to do that anymore but I didn’t care.  I didn’t even care that we were going back to my stupid vets office.  I just wanted the pain to stop.  After more pictures my dad showed up.  I was really glad to see him because he always knows how to comfort me.  She said she couldn’t give me something for the pain that would work, we had to go to the hospital!

Mom and Dad helped me back in the car and off we went.  It took a really long hour to get there, it hurt so much I started having water come out of my mouth.  My leg was bigger than 3 legs put together!  They checked us in and looked at the pictures that the vet sent with us.  My leg was called a site fracture.  I didn’t care what they called it, I just wanted it to stop.  My mom and dad hugged me and kissed me goodbye and then I was alone but the pain was going away.  I cried off and on the whole time I was at the hospital which was Saturday and Sunday and Monday.  The people there tried to feed me and give me water but I didn’t want anything except to go home.  Nobody listened to me though.  They finally shaved my leg and stuck a tube in cause I was “Dehydrated” and had lost 8 lbs.  Mom came and visited me I think, my mind was so foggy maybe it was just a dream…

I dreamed of my brother Titan and my sister Shy.  We have been pretty tight for 8 years now.  I had never been apart from them, I wondered what they thought happened to me?  Mom yelling then driving off with me.  Titan and Shy didn’t know where I went.  Were they looking for me?  Were they going to come find me?  This is their pictures, Titan is the big one,  Shy is smiling.  I don’t look happy in this picture.  It must’ve been when I was all doped up at the hospital.

I remember you posting a summary of this story in the forums and it was so heartbreaking to read. Chloe had cancer, but not bone cancer. From what I have read on this site, it can be a scary thing because as Sammy discovered, a fracture can occur at any moment.

You might want to share your 2 cents on this story with a dog named Morgan whose pawrents have scheduled amputation but are second guessing themselves. Morgan is on pain killers and to them she seems “fine”. The first thing I thought of was Sammy’s story and I provided Morgan a link to your forum on this story, but I am sure if you say something it will mean more to them.

Wow Sammy you write really well!

I know your story, but this telling was more complete and the pictures of your brother and sister are so nice to see.

Isn’t it great that all of that pain is gone now?

I am doing so well! Mom has cut my pain pills in half, and even though I get tired after 5 minutes, I actually ran up our slope in our backyard today 😛 thanks for the compliments, I dictate everything, mom just does the typing… okay, I can’t lie, she might help a little with the wording.
